Laboratory Manual for Anatomy and Physiology

After three months without new scripts to a slew of primetime shows, you would think that the resolution of the writers’ strike would mean great news unanimously. For the most part, it has been. However, in some isolated cases, the lengthy break has resulted in other projects for some actors that had originally been scheduled to appear in the interrupted primetime favorites.

This is precisely the case in the scheduled appearance former Dawson’s Creek and Mighty Ducks star, Joshua Jackson, was supposed to make on Grey’s Anatomy. The Mighty Ducks and Dawson’s Creek heartthrob was all set to film an extended run on the award-winning medical drama. However, while the scribes’ walkout was still in progress, Jackson landed a part in J.J. Abrams’s upcoming pilot, Fringe.

Fringe is the latest brainchild from Abrams, the man behind other hit series such as Felicity, Lost and Alias. The brand new sci-if pilot has been scheduled for production sooner than anticipated and will keep Jackson tied up with filming. Jackson was originally supposed to work on Fringe simultaneously with his installments for Grey’s Anatomy. Unfortunately, they were unable to come up with a workable schedule for him to shuttle between the two shows.

This is indeed a disappointment for both Grey’s Anatomy fans and followers of Joshua Jackson. Grey’s could have benefited from the infusion of another dreamy and possibly steamy hunk on the series. For his part, Jackson stood to regain some of his former glory as a television star. The actor hasn’t been seen regularly on the small screen since his days alongside pre-Tom Cruise Katie Holmes and James Van Der Beek in the coming-of-age Dawson’s Creek.

What would make things even worse is if Fringe goes on to misfire and fail to go beyond the pilot stage. This would have robbed Grey’s Anatomy fans of the chance to relish Jackson in the popular program.

After the bit-by-bit disclosure of the cast of the upcoming spin off of Grey’s Anatomy, a title finally surfaces for the much talked about series…at least for now. The show, which features the lead character Dr. Addision Montgomery, played by actress Kate Walsh, will be momentarily called “Private Practice.”

Grey’s Anatomy, an Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning drama series, features the world of medical drama through the eyes of Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeo. The show also includes Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, T.R. Knight, Patrick Dempsey, Isaiah Washington and, of course, Kate Walsh.

A month ago, the buzz about a Grey’s Anatomy spin off surfaced various media outlets. Due to its attractiveness and popularity, the network has decided to come up with a by-product of the highly controversial medical drama that would center on Kate Walsh’s character. Weeks after the reports, the spin-off was confirmed however other details were left out including the other cast members, not to mention the title of the show.

The highly publicized Grey’s Anatomy spin off is creating buzz with its stand-alone and detached idea. In line with this, the said show is said to deviate from a sphere of medical emergencies and leap into a more profound drama viewers will hopefully be pleased about.

With the gradual uncovering of the details of the controversial show, the viewers are getting more curious and intrigued about the spin off. And with all the noise about the upcoming show, the ABC network highly expects the series to instantly land a niche on the top in the network’s fall line up.

Apart from Walsh, it is now confirmed that the Grey’s Anatomy spin off will also include Taye Diggs, Tim Daly, Paul Adelstein, Chris Lowell, Amy Brenneman and Merrin Dungey. The drama is set to launch on May 10, 2007 with a two-hour special debut. But as of this moment, there is still no word on the airtime.

It’s been nearly three months since Isiah Washington, cast member of Grey’s Anatomy, entered rehab on January 23, 2007 due to his homophobic slur at co-star T.R. Knight who plays Dr. George O’Malley. Let’s take a sneak peek on how the controversial actor is now doing.

According to Patrick Dempsey, actor who plays Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy, Washington has been doing quite well though he hardly spends time with Washington. Based on Dempsey’s observation from a far, Washington appears to be determined to surpass everything that has happened in the past. In addition, Washington’s fervor in his work is very evident in his brilliant acting performances. Maybe there is really hope for the controversial actor.

In February, it was reported that many of the cast members of Grey’s Anatomy appear optimistic about Washington’s return from his one-week stint in rehab. Katherine Heigl, Dr. Isobel “Izzie” Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy, revealed publicly that the cast remains positive about Washington despite the unpleasant air that surfaced among them. She said, “I, obviously, have been very verbal about all of this, but there isn’t a lot going on right now… We’re all hopeful…It’s a great group of people, and we work really well together. We work really hard, and it’s unusual that we do get along as well as we do.”

Washington, a 43-year old native of Houston, Texas, attended Willowridge High School. He went to Howard University and eventually served in the United States Air Force. As an actor, he previously worked in films like The Color of Love, Land Where My Father Died, Dancing in September and Blood on a Happy Face just to name a few. Washington’s previous homophobic slur instantly attracted criticisms from cast members, people from the network and gay-right advocates. This controversial issue nearly ended his career in the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy where he plays Dr. Preston Xavier Burke.
