The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) is the tenth spy film in the James Bond series, and the third to star Roger Moore as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. It was directed by Lewis Gilbert and the screenplay was written by Christopher Wood and Richard Maibaum. The film takes its title from the tenth novel in Ian Fleming’s James Bond series, though as Ian Fleming requested that only the title of the novel be used, the film does not contain any elements of the novel The Spy Who Loved Me.[1] The storyline involves a reclusive megalomaniac named Stromberg who plans to destroy the world and create a new civilization under the sea. Bond teams up with a Russian agent Anya Amasova to stop Stromberg. The Spy Who Loved Me was highly acclaimed by critics.[2] The soundtrack, composed by Marvin Hamlisch, also met tremendous success. The film was nominated for three Academy Awards amidst many other nominations and subsequently novelized in 1977 by Christopher Wood as James Bond, The Spy Who Loved Me.

Roger is a good actor but as Bond I thought Roger Moore was terrible….
@Butchuk2007 Ohh so you lied about the audience reaction? lol haha. nevermind, wow, 1969 aeh, what was it like being just alive back then? I wish I could jump back in time to the 60′s, especially with Bond. I mean nowadays it’s all gone pear shaped. I feel Craig is good, but the films are becoming very distinct in the sense of distant of the bond tradition, remarking with a realistic scope that’s pretty…erm… .shit to be honest. I cant see both craigs projects being BOND films.
@amarsbarr No, I didn’t see any of the Connery Bond films in the cinema except Diamonds Are Forever. The first Bond film I saw was OHMSS back in 1969. I think it ranks as one of the best Bond films…Personal opinion of course…I liked Lazenby in the roll and would like to have seen Lewis Collins play Bond…But well anyway. I tell a lie about spontaneous reaction in the cinema…There was one other time I saw this. In ET when they found him in a puddle. All of the women started blubbing LoL!!!
@Butchuk2007 and did you see any of Connery’s bond films back before the 70′s?
My first was Die Another Day, I was only 13 but the showing was packed, no audience reaction at all lol….
“But James I need you”…”So does England”…LoL.
I remember seeing this twice in the cinema back in 1977. On both occasions when Bond jumped over the cliff edge and the parachute opened showing the Union Jack everyone in the cinema got up and cheered…Never seen that kind of spontaneous reaction before – or since in a British cinema.
